Emma Jean Hunter Gainer

The celebration of Emma Jean Hunter- Gainer’s began May 21, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris and Eunice Hunter. She obtained her education at Central High School. Emma Jean was gainfully employed working for Columbus City Schools educating and nurturing children with special needs. Loving and enjoying what she did, Emma Jean serviced Columbus City Schools for over 10 years. Being a single mother to her own five wonderful children; 2 daughters and 3 sons, Emma Jean extended her heart and home to children that were lost in the foster care system by becoming a foster parent and mentor to many. As a young woman, Emma Jean fellowshipped at Hebrew Baptist Church. She later became a member of Second Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Walter J. Flemmings Sr, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Along with the unconditional love she had for family and friends, Emma Jean enjoyed cooking, music and her soap operas caring about others Emma Jean shared her wisdom, morals and life’s values to empower others.

 1 Corinthians 13:13 reminds us that three things will last forever; Faith, hope and love. – The greatest of these is love.

 Emma Jean Hunter Gainer is preceded in death by parents Mr. and Mrs. Hunter Sister Juanita Glass.

 As the matriarch of their family Emma Jean leaves to cherish her legacy her children Letha (Star) Taylor, Raymond Carroll, Jesse Carroll, Neal Patrick Carroll and LaMonica Johnson- Whitehead. Brother; Maurice (Vicky) Hunter, Jeannette Hunter, Sandra Hunter (Atl,Ga) and Marlene Hunter- Powell, 21 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and family.
