Born on June 16, 1942, in Jackson, MS, Emma brought joy and warmth to the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished and celebrated for generations to come.

Emma led a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. Despite facing various challenges, she always found strength in her unwavering faith and the support of her family. Emma proudly retired from The Holiday Inn.

Those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with Emma knew her as a talented crocheter and a passionate gardener. She had a green thumb and would spend hours cultivating beautiful flowers and nurturing her plants. Emma would often invite her loved ones into her garden oasis, creating cherished memories of laughter and shared moments.

In her downtime, Emma delighted in watching her favorite TV shows, especially Judge Mathis and CNN. She had an insatiable appetite for knowledge and would eagerly engage in discussions about current events. But above all, Emma treasured her family. She adored cooking for them, preparing hearty meals that would leave everyone feeling nourished and loved. Her Motown Greats playlist would fill the room as she danced and sang along, particularly to the soulful melodies of Sam Cooke.

Emma joins her parents, Almond and Ganeta Johnson, and Samuel Taylor, as well as her husband, Boyd Fleming Sr.; children, Boyd Fleming Jr, Donnia Fleming Lee and Darrin “Turtle” Marsh; her beloved siblings Betty Moore, Annie Newbern, Marvin Taylor, and Leroy Johnson, and special friend, Thurman Jones in eternal rest. Though she leaves behind a tremendous void in the hearts of her loved ones, they take solace in the everlasting impact she made in their lives.

She leaves behind her cherished children, Carl Fleming, Mitchell Fleming, Willie James Fleming, Edna Howard, Deborah Fleming, April Jones, and Thurman Jones. Emma is survived by her adoring siblings, David Johnson, Jesse (Delores) Johnson, Joe (Lillie) Johnson, Kathy Lynch, Essie Nash, and Dorothy Knight; special nieces and nephews, Thelma Ruth Taylor, Thelma Jean Taylor, Herbert Taylor, Robert Johnson, Ricky Johnson and a host of other nieces and nephews; special friends, Tina Adkins, and Gail Minard.
