Ethel Alma Ruth (Holliday) Scofield was born on April 27, 1936 and departed this life on September 9, 2024. Ethel was born the second of five children to the union of Charley and Allie Holliday in Cedartown, Georgia.
She attended Cedarhill Elementary and Cedarhill High School. She and her family relocated to Columbus, Ohio in 1968. She was employed at OSU University Hospital in the Dietary Department and later retired from the Medical Records Department. Ethel gave her life to her Lord and Savior at an early age; she attended Cedarhill Baptist Church, Cedartown GA, and later joined First Church of God in Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of the Joy Heirs (now known as L.I.F.T.S.) until her illness prevented her attendance. Ethel was a loving mother, sister, aunt and grandmother and was considered by many to be a sweet and humble spirit. She was affectionately called “Nana or Sweet” by her grandchildren. She loved to travel with church group trips usually accompanied by her cousin & best friend Lois Barrett whom they proclaimed as “sisters”.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Willie G. Scofield Sr. and beloved son and daughter Willie G. Scofield Jr. and Ethel Diane (Scofield) Conway, her parents Charley Holliday and Ida Lou Allie (Flemister) Holliday, her sisters Susie Mae Ellis, Ida Belle Brown and Nancy Jester. She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters Sarah Jordan, Jean Scofield, Carolyn Morrow, Susan Scofield, Melissa Scofield (David) Bailey, all of Columbus, Ohio, her son Phillip Scofield of Atlanta, GA, her sister, Minister Alice Lay of Cedartown, GA, her best friend/cousin Lois Barrett, Columbus, OH, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, friends and relatives.
