Etta Williams

Etta Yvonne Williams, 75, of Columbus, Ohio departed this life Saturday November 16, 2024 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

 

Etta was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia on April 13, 1949, the daughter of Nora Priscilla Quarles Blue and George Blue. Etta graduated Morgantown High School and went on to achieve an Associate’s Degree from Columbus State University.

 

Etta married her high school sweetheart Alexander Williams, Jr. in West Virginia and shortly after relocated to Columbus, Ohio. She was employed with the Ohio Bar Association for over a decade and retired from Columbus City Schools as a Secretary.

 

Etta was a member of National Church Residences. Etta enjoyed dancing, eating her favorite food (chicken), spending time with her family and was known for “hitting” at The Hollywood Casino. She was affectionately known by family and friends as “Vonnie”.

 

She leaves to mourn her, two daughters, Terrace Y. Williams and Dione Williams as well as one son, Alexander (Diona) Williams, III , three grandchildren, Steven Galloway, Aja Hicks, Chyna Hicks, a Sister, Genice Debow, an Uncle, Kenneth W. Quarles, Nieces, Naima Quarles-Burnley, Nia Quarles Martin, Monica Turner, Ericka Turner, Beverly Locke, Deidre Goliday, Nephews, Bradley Smith, Timothy Smith, Lee Williams and a host of other family and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents Nora P. Blue and George Blue, her spouse, Alexander Williams, Jr., and her sister, Patricia Smith.
