Evelyn D. Jones

Evelyn Darlene Jones, a beloved resident of Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away on October 12, 2023, following a short hospital stay due to medical complications. Her life, spanning 81 years, was marked by a profound commitment to Family, Faith, and Love.

Evelyn entered this world on January 19 the as the first daughter of Charles Jones and Dorothy Nickison in Cleveland, Ohio. Following her high school years, she embarked on a lifelong journey of selflessly serving others and dedicating herself to the Lord while raising her own family. Her unwavering faith and boundless love for her family were sources of immense pride.

Evelyn is survived by her two sisters, Deborah Horne and Charlene Jones, and her legacy lives on through being blessed with 10 children; Dangelo (Jean) Jones, Marte (Octavine) Jones, Malik Jones, Michelle Jones, Carlos (Cecillia) Jones, Demetria Jones, Rebecca Jones, Catrina Jones, Sonya Jones, and Anthony Jones.

Evelyn’s life revolved around nurturing her relationship with Jesus, whom she wholeheartedly devoted her life to during her teen years. In addition to her deep spiritual connection, she found joy in reading, cooking, and cherishing endless moments with her family. The holidays were especially fulfilling for her as they gave her a chance to gather her loved ones and do what she loved the most, loving them unconditionally.

Evelyn was predeceased in death by her father, Charles, her mother, Dorothy, as well as her brothers, Charles Jones, Howard Langford, Gregory Ledlow, Marty Nickison, and Dangelo Nickison. She also mourned the loss of a grandson Sean Jones, a great-granddaughter Elania Legg, in addition to various aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. However, her legacy lives on through her 39 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday, October 20, 2023 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Union Cemetery.
