Evelyn Street, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on September 28, 2023, at Best Day’s Senior Living. She was born to Leroy E. Collins Sr. and Lucille Duncan Collins on February 14, 1940, in Akron, Alabama.

After retiring from the State of Ohio, she sold clothes for Don Castor Company and was employed by Nordstrom’s, Southwest Airlines and then turned to childcare for a number of years.

Evelyn was an avid traveler vacationing in Paris, Hawaii, and went on numerous cruises. She also enjoyed the Collins, Bailey, and LeVert family reunions and spending time with her family. She was a member of a social group dating back to the 1960s where they held cabarets and she showcased many of her beautiful gowns, some of which she made. She enjoyed sewing when she had time. Evelyn enjoyed sports and was a loyal fan of The Ohio State football team, where she was a season ticket holder for many years, and of course, she attended the Pasadena Rose Bowl parade and games.
Evelyn bowled in a league through The State of Ohio for many years. She never passed up an opportunity to show her talents during the Operation Feed campaign at The State of Ohio-from playing basketball to softball games-she was a true competitor. One of her proudest moments was her work on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and attending his Inauguration in Washington.
