Flora Mae Conner, age 76. Sunrise October 16, 1946 and Sunset April 23, 2023.
Flora, known by those close to her as Nancy, was born on October 16, 1946, in Meridian, Mississippi. For many years, Nancy was employed in environmental services with a hotel and then Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio; where she worked as a valued employee after being a stay-at-home mom until her youngest children reached their pre-teen years. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Luther Carl Conner; her son, Richard Carl Conner; and mother, Essie Mae McCoy. She is survived by her son, Levon (Tammy) Johnson of Pickerington, Ohio; Douglas Conner of Cincinnati, Ohio; Chris Conner of Columbus, Ohio, several long-term neighbors in Columbus’ North Linden neighborhood who provided mutual aide to each other through the years; as well as a host of relatives across the country, friends, and former coworkers. Nancy was also an avid fan of Ohio State Buckeyes’ football, Los Angeles Dodgers’ baseball, and a prolific reader and viewer of crime mysteries, current events, and American civil rights era history. Despite a modest upbringing, all four of her children graduated from high school and were able to attend college.
