Fredrick "Bugzy" Taylor

December 28, 1979 — January 30, 2025

Columbus

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Fredrick Taylor, age 45, a symbol of hope and resilience, who departed this world on January 30, 2025. Born in Columbus, Ohio, to Fredrick Robinson and Rebecca (Reba) Taylor, Fredrick’s life was a testament to strength and perseverance. Though he entered the world with the odds stacked against him, his journey was defined by an unbreakable spirit and a relentless drive to transform his life.

Raised in challenging circumstances, Fredrick encountered numerous obstacles throughout his youth. After serving time in prison in his 20s, he emerged with a renewed sense of purpose, determined to transform his life and uplift others. As a drug and alcohol counselor, he became a beacon of hope, using his personal experiences to inspire and support those battling addiction.

His bestselling book, How to Beat the System, chronicled his journey of redemption, resonating with countless readers and serving as a powerful testament to the possibility of change. Passionate about giving back, he founded outreach programs for children of incarcerated parents, ensuring they received the support and guidance they needed. His commitment to helping others extended into the real estate industry, where he worked his way up while also earning his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and working at Budweiser.

Fredrick’s generosity had no limits—he was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, never expecting anything in return. He lived by the values of integrity, kindness, and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his cousin more like a brother, Chandale “Mugzy” Miller and brother, Jacob Taylor of Columbus, Ohio.

Fredrick was the eldest of six siblings on his mother’s side and the eldest of five on his father’s side. He leaves to cherish his memories to Jeffrey Taylor & Isaiah Adams (brothers) Charity and Faith Bowman & Ambrosia Taylor (sisters) on his mother’s side. Anton, Jared and Joesph Robinson (brothers) and sister Ja’Marah Goree on his father’s side.

Fredrick was not only a devoted advocate for change, but he was also a loving Husband to Taryn Marie, with whom he shared a deep connection and immense joy. He is survived by his four beloved children: Daria and Antonio Alvarez Taylor, Eddris and Marae Tabler, who were the light of his life and the driving force behind his relentless pursuit of a better future.

In celebrating Fredrick’s life, we remember a man who transformed his struggles into strength and dedicated his life to uplifting others. His legacy of love, resilience, spirit and selflessness will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those he touched and will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
