Georgia Ann Petty

Georgia Ann Petty was born on January 5, 1950, in Buffalo, New York. She was called home to be with The LORD on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. Georgia Ann was a devoted Christian as a member of St. James Christian Center, Church of God in Christ, 2713 Northland Plaza Drive, Columbus, Ohio. She accepted Christ in her heart at an early age at Pentecostal Temple, Church of God in Christ, Buffalo under the leadership of the late Bishop Charles McCoy, New York where she served in various auxiliaries. She later with her parents moved her membership to Peyton Temple, Church of God in Christ, Syracuse, New York under the leadership of the late Elder C. Peyton. From there with the move of her parents she became a member at Wilburn Temple, Church of God in Christ, Albany, New York under the leadership of the late Bishop Wilburn, and later to First Church of God in Christ, Pittsburg, Pennsylvania under the leadership of the late Bishop Vaughn. In 1976, Georgia Ann joined Pentecostal Tabernacle, Church of God in Christ, Columbus, Ohio under the leadership of her father, the late Elder Leon Petty, Sr. After the retirement of her father, she became a member of Meredith Temple Church of God in Christ, Columbus, Ohio under the leadership of the late Elder Hezekiah Meredith until she joined St. James Christian Center, under the leadership of her nephew, Bishop James DeLaney, Jr.

Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Leon and Evangelist Missionary JoAnn Petty, her beloved sister, Cecilia Yvonne Petty, and her beloved brothers William “Billy” James Petty and Rev. Dr. Leon Jalik Petty, Jr., nephew Cornelius Petty & niece Sanita Mann.

Georgia attended college classes after receiving her high school diploma from Central High School, Syracuse, New York. She worked as an administrative secretary in Albany, New York and Buffalo, New York before moving to Columbus, Ohio where she also worked in administrative services. Georgia also worked and served faithfully at St. James Center until her health’s decline. She also enjoyed attending family gatherings with all her family members.

Georgia Ann had a special love for her daughter, Carla Tabby Petty Bazemore, and thoroughly enjoyed time with her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as GiGi, Ann, Auntie Ann, and Georgianna. She will be forever remembered as loyal to her family and church, and one who loved to dress up, put her make-up on, and get her nails manicure to look pretty. She will be sadly missed by her daughter and all who knew her.

Georgia Ann leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Carla Tabitha Petty Bazemore, Son in law Dwayne Bazemore, Granddaughters Sky Nixon & Antjuanette Church, Grandson Johnathan Church. Siblings, Jacqueline DeLaney, Priscilla Folks, Lawrence Petty, Deborah (John Bechard) Petty, Eunice Inez Hale, Diamond Star, John Mark Petty, Princess Petty Castle, Timothy (Frankie) Petty, Patrick (Maritza) Petty & Yolanda (Corey) Miller; Her Beloved Aunt Geneva Tolbert, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
