Grace Miller

July 5, 1951 — September 17, 2024

Columbus

Grace Miller was born July 5, 1951 to Deacon Grady, Sr. and Deaconess Maybelle Moore in Columbus, Ohio. She accepted Christ at an early age and lived her life giving glory and honor to God.

Grace was a life-long resident of Columbus where she attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from East High School in 1969. She also earned her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Columbus State Community College, formerly known as Columbus Technical Institute.

Grace started dating the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Marvin L. Miller Sr., in 1969. On September 9, 1972, the two united in holy matrimony. From this union they had three wonderful children and one grandson who she loved very much: Sharonda, Marvin Jr., Nyisha, and Cornelius. Grace was not only a loving wife, and nurturing mother/grandmother but she was also a great friend.

Grace was known as a top-notch worker at all her places of employment, especially at Battelle Memorial Institute where she worked 39 years before retiring. She also was employed by Ohio Christian University as an Administrative Assistant.

Grace was raised in a Christian home. She was baptized at the age of 12 at the Good Samaritan Baptist Church where the late Rev. Willie J. Provo was Pastor. Not only was Grace a Christian but she had a servant’s heart which led her to use her God given abilities in the service of the Lord. Grace was a member of The WJP Choir of the Good Samaritan Baptist Church, Columbus Chapter of The Gospel Music Workshop of America, and The Greater Vision Missionary Baptist Church Choir. She was also a noted soloist, having sung at various events throughout the city.

After assisting her husband in founding Greater Vision Missionary Baptist Church (GVMBC) on July 9, 1994, she was affectionately known as Lady Grace. Lady Grace was a very active First Lady. She was the Director for the GVMBC Youth Choir, a Trustee, a Deaconess, Servant Leader for both the Women and Youth Ministries, Special Events Coordinator, and Special Assistant to the Pastor.

Lady Grace was a former officer and active member of the Baptist Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows Alliance.

Lady Grace was an avid tv viewer. She loved to watch NCIS, Criminal Minds, Law & Order SVU, and various game shows. She also enjoyed cooking and is known for her chicken & dumplings and rolls.

Lady Grace peacefully transitioned surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

In addition to her parents, Lady Grace is preceded in death by her sisters, Sharon Ann Barnes, Patricia Ann Hope, Jessica Diane Saunders, Sonya Yvonne Moore, and Gloria Jean Cornelius and her twin brother, Grady Moore Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 52 years Marvin Leroy Miller Sr., their children, Sharonda Rochelle Miller, Marvin Leroy Miller Jr., Nyisha Monae Miller, along with their grandson Cornelius Edward Washington II, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the Greater Vision Missionary Baptist Church family who she loved and served for over 30 years.

Having been true to her name, we all will miss her gracious and loving spirit until we see her again.
