Gregory Bernard Waterman

Gregory Bernard Waterman, 63, moved up in the ranks in the Master’s arms on October 31, 2014 at home with family fighting the good fight of faith battling cancer.
Greg ‘Pop’ was born on October 13, 1951 in New York, New York to Carlton and Esther Waterman.
He was one of eight Waterman siblings. Greg was a man of great wisdom and advice that impacted all those who came in contact with him. He served in the Army and attended Grambling State University. Greg spent many years in customer service with his most recent companies being Safelite Auto and Alliance Data. He was also involved in the Yoke Person and Married Couples ministries at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Greg loved the Lord and to travel with his wife, they’ve ventured to several places in their marriage such as the Bahamas twice, Wisconsin, Chicago, NYC and their last trip was to Florida. He came to Columbus, Ohio on the heels of his son Rob, to meet his wife Denise through family. Greg was called Pop by many and uncle-pops by the little ones had a passion to encourage people. Being from New York City, he loved the Mets, NY Jets and connoisseur of jazz music. Pop was also an avid book reader and his favorite author was James Patterson and the last book he read was, The Shack by William P. Young.
Survived by his beloved wife Carolyn Denise Strickland-Waterman, sons Robert (Tonya) Waterman, Jamillion (Ayako) Strickland, daughters, Chennette (David) Barreto and Junese Strickland. Ten grandchildren, Tatiana, Savonne, Rayne, Ashley, David, Ayanna, Jaina, Selina, and Jaden. Brothers, Carl (Joyce) Waterman, Lance (Lori) Waterman, Sterling Waterman, Rory Waterman, Darly Waterman and sisters, Fawn Waterman and Milly Gibson. Faithful in-laws, Quintella (JD) Walters, Phyllis (Gary) Gilchrist, Greg (Kelly) Harper, Daniel Strickland, Cassandra (Cameron, Cymphyne) Murray. His beloved Aunt Jennie Shaw and loved cousins Jamie Simpson, Albert Shaw, Arthur Shaw and many more. Many loved (great) nieces and (great) nephews.
Greg will be laid to rest Saturday, November 8, 2014, 9 a.m. will be calling hours and 10 a.m. service will begin. His church home, Mt. Olivet Baptist Church will be the host, 428 E. Main Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
