Gregory Brannon

Gregory Brannon was born May 14, 1954 to Evelyn and Nathaniel Brannon. Greg, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was called home to be with the lord on December 12, 2021 at the age of 67.

Greg graduated from Mohawk High School in 1972. After graduation, Greg and some of his high school friends were recruited by his father to serve in the United States Navy. Greg’s 4 years of active Navy service provided personal growth, development, and maturity. It also set him on the career path as a licensed electrician. Greg received an Honorable Discharge for his military service. His skill level led to job opportunities with Wolfe’s, Grumman Flexible, and Dominican Sisters of Peace.

Greg was the consummate family man, a devoted and loving father! Greg had one son, Gregory Phillip Brannon, in whom he took great care in training, watching him grow, and develop as a fine young man. Yes, Gregory Phillip became an electrician also! After Gregory Phillip’s unexpected death, Greg made his granddaughters, Gabriel and Giana Brannon, his main focus. He doted on them like there was no tomorrow.

Greg had a love for studying the Bible. Both he and his mother gave their lives to Jesus Christ and were baptized in 1982. Approximately 3 years ago, to seek a better understanding of spiritual matters in his life, he participated in a study and mentorship program. Not accepting everything but studying for himself God’s peace was evident. A word to us all!

Greg took pride in his neighborhood and community. Even after the onset of his cancer, he took care of his neighbors’ yards and trash along his street and sidewalks. Greg always knew how to lighten a room; he was a jokester who loved to laugh. In his leisure time he loved playing his drums, listening to jazz, and going on cruises.

Greg was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Phillip Brannon; father, Nathaniel Brannon; mother, Evelyn Louise Sutton; sister, Jacqueline V. Reynolds; grandparents, Annabelle and Lusher Brannon; and nephew, Anthony E. Reynolds.

Greg leaves to cherish his memory, granddaughters, Gabriel M. and Giana K. Brannon, brother, Nathaniel C. (Sharon) Brannon; sisters, Patrice M. (Michael) Christian and Tobbie Reeves Herriott; special friends, Clifford Pate, Frank Jefferson Jr, and Carol O’Conner; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
