Hattie L. Murphy

Hattie Lee Murphy was born on October 4, 1952, in Prairie, Alabama to Jannie and Lee Murphy. She was granted her angel wings on August 14, 2023. Hattie gave us all such courage and hope as she reminded us of how precious life is.

Her life would seem short to many, but to those who were touched by her spirit understand it is the quality of your life and not the quantity of years that matters. She was a kind and gentle woman; her smile and warm heart brought much joy. Hattie grew up in Prairie, Alabama and graduated from Wilcox county High School in 1973. Shortly after high school, Hattie relocated to Columbus, Ohio and retired from The Ohio State School for the Blind.

She leaves to cherish four sisters Mary Franklin of Camden Alabama, Geraldine Murphy of Greensboro North Carolina, Mamie Murphy Smith of Ft Walton Beach, Florida, Jannis Murphy McGraw of Catherine, Alabama and one brother Robert Murphy of Columbus, OH. She also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Hattie was preceded in death by one brother Cleophis Murphy and one sister Annie L. Murphy.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday, October 6, 2023 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Green Lawn Cemetery.
