Blessed with 86 years of life, Hattie was called to eternal peace on July 29, 2024.
Hattie B. McKinney was born in Appalachia, Virginia on November 5, 1937, to Cleo and Hazel Mitchell. Hattie was one of six siblings. Hattie relocated to Columbus, Ohio at the age of 18.
In the early 70’s she united in holy matrimony to her late husband, Willie McKinney from their union they bore two sons, Clifford, and Patrick McKinney. Hattie was employed at Riverside Hospital for 37 years before retiring as Head Cook. Hattie’s passion was cooking and baking, she loved baking pound cakes and cooking for her family on Sundays and holidays. Hattie’s personality was strong and vibrant, she had no problem with speaking her mind, telling you how it is. She always stood on business.
Hattie lived her best life. She traveled the world, and her favorite place she visited was Egypt. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, watching lifetime movies and spending time with family. Most importantly she loved the Lord, she took comfort in reading her bible, reciting scriptures, and listening to gospel music.
Hattie was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church. All Hattie wanted was peace, love, and happiness.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her brother, Bobby Mitchell; sons, Clifford McKinney and Patrick McKinney; grandchildren. Tanisha McKinney and Kevin McKinney; great-grandchildren, Kelasia Ravette, Makhila Thomas, Azion McKinney, and Ka Mora McKinney; dearest friend, Myrtle Groves.
Preceded in death by father, Cleo Mitchell; mother, Hazel Mitchell; son, Kelvin Mitchell; husband, Willie McKinney; sister, Edna Mitchell; and brothers, Cleo Mitchell, Billy Mitchell, and Ronnie Mitchell.
