Helen Foster Pearson

Helen F. Pearson lived a very active and full life. She was born in Omar, West Virginia on October 7, 1933. She was the sixth child to Lawson and Geneva (Shelton) Foster. At the age of thirteen, following the death of her father, Helen and her family relocated to Columbus, Ohio. There she attended South High School.

Life was good growing up in Columbus, she had a loving Christian mother and a strong sibling bond. The Foster children were raised with a strong sense of community and hard work. Upon departing from South High School, Helen married her high school sweetheart Robert L. Pearson, and they began their young family. They welcomed their daughter, Charlene R. (Pearson) Womack and second child Robert L. Pearson, Jr. Amongst being a wonderful mother Helen loved God. She and her family joined Hosack Street Baptist Church where she remained active in the church for many decades.

Helen gave many years of service to the City of Columbus Food Service Production Center. Upon retiring she found time to do the things she loved such as cooking for family and friends, gardening, traveling, and volunteering at local food pantries. Because of her strong sense of community Helen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and former Board Member of the Southside Settlement House. In her later years, Helen found a new church home, Power for Change Community Church where she served as Mother of the Church.

Helen leaves behind many to cherish her memory, her loving daughter Charlene R. Womack, her faithful grandson De’Shawn (Julia) Womack, and the joy of her life her devoted granddaughter Danyel Baker, great grandchildren Malaysia Womack, De’Shawn Womack Jr., Justine Womack, and Manuel Reyes, surrogate great granddaughter Sadie Bailey, dearest and beloved goddaughters Shelia (Donley) Kidd and Rachel Markels, loving niece Debbie (Eugene) Griffin, special friend Mrs. Lilly Cleveland, as well as her three fur babies Lucci, Maui, and Cloud.
