Henry Dukes, Jr

Henry Dukes, Jr. 80, born on June 1, 1942, in Senoia, Georgia to Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Geraldine Dukes who preceded him in death. As many remember him as “Duke,” he faced many challenges and achieved many accomplishments prior to departing this life on August 29, 2022. Also preceded in death by his grandparents Charles (Lula) Dukes and George (Pearl) Porter.

Henry grew up in Georgia where he received his childhood education. He was business-minded and savvy as a successful entrepreneur. During his younger years he was a prominent restaurant co-owner of D&D’s located in downtown Columbus, Ohio. He enjoyed bowling at the legendary Aero, Piketon, and Amos Lanes.

Henry is preceded in death by his grandson, Jalen Terrell Dukes; siblings, Beatrice (Dukes) Neeley, Jessie Dukes, Mozell (Dukes) “Honey Babe” Pope, Charles Dukes, Carrie (Dukes) Hamm, and Ricky Dukes; and stepson, Marcus Jones.

Henry leaves to cherish his life and memories his wife for more than 23 years, Rosetta; children, Henry Howard Dukes, John Thomas (Jewell) Dukes, Sr., Gregory Allen (Marcia) Dukes, Sr., Christopher Dukes, Kenneth Dukes, and Lady Dukes; stepchildren, Secundra Parker and Valerie Suttles; grandchildren, John T. Dukes, Jr., Gerrika Dukes, Alicia Dukes, Janai T. Dukes, Gregory A. Dukes, Jr., and Jessica M. Dukes; siblings, Agnes Dukes Lee, Leila Dukes Elder, Shirley Dukes Russell, John L. (Ollie) Dukes, Sr., Gwendolyn Dukes Millbrook, Cynthia Dukes Penson, and Brenda Dukes all from Georgia; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

There is a great comfort in knowing that our loving God knows best. The family thanks you for all acts of kindness and support. A special thank you to his caregivers and special friends, Mary Mcafee and Haja (Home Health Aides).

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday, September 9, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
