Horace Ross, Sr.

Horace Ross, Sr., was born July 12, 1940, in Macon, Georgia to Bernice and Annerise Ross. He transitioned to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Horace Ross was a graduate of East High and took on many jobs as a young man in order to assist his mother in supporting his younger siblings. Horace was employed at General Motors Delphi plant and retired in 2002 after 39 years of employment.

Horace loved gardening and looked forward every year to working is his garden planting, growing and sharing the harvest with family and friends. The vegetable he cherished growing most was his Georgia Collard Greens, better known as “Elephant Ears”, passed down to him from his mother. Often Horace and his son, Derrick, competed to see who could grow the biggest and best.

Greeting him upon his arrival were his parents; Bernice and Annerise Ross, sisters; Evelyn Valentine and Earlene Ross, brother; James (Flora) Ross.

He leaves to mourn, yet rejoicing in his memory, children; Bobby Alexander, Horace Ross, Jr, Chrystal Lynn Ross and Derrick L. Ross, Sr., brother; Harold Ross, sisters; Helen Alexander, and Earnestine Ross Carmon, special grandchild; Artae Ross and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; special friend and devoted mother of his children, Earline Ross.
Visitation 1:00 PM and Funeral Service 2:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).
