Howard Guinn, Sr

Howard Earl Guinn Sr. was born on August 24, 1947 to the late Bennie Guinn and Addie Wiggins in Huntsville, Alabama. Departed this earthly life Sunday morning October 15, 2017 at the kobucker house in Columbus, Ohio.

Howard attended East High School. He served in the United States Army from June 1974 to August 1978. He was also an active member of the Elks Lodge until he became ill.

Howard was employed in the bakery department at Lazarus for several years, custodian at the Ohio State University.

He was affectionately known as “Pipeman” and if you knew him, you knew him for his famous bark. If you seen him sitting on his porch you were sure to be greeted in that manner. He also had a great sense of humor and when you were around him you were sure to laugh. he was very friendly, outgoing, and was full of energy until his health failed.

If you were ever looking for him you would find him doing what he enjoyed most painting or roofing. He also loved sitting by the banks fishing. He loved music. You could be sure he had his music playing 24/7 right along with the TV. He was also a well known DJ all over the city namely on “Blue Mondays”.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Guinn and Addie Wiggins; daughter, Loressa Earlene Guinn; sister, Deloris Guinn; aunts, Elizabeth Dawin, Annie O’Neil, and Mary Pope; cousins, Earl Pope and Edwina Jones.

Howard is survived by daughters, Mary Ross, Ninette Guinn, Edrena Guinn; son, Howard Guinn Jr., all of Columbus, Ohio; longtime loving friend and companion Beverly Coleman, of Delaware, Ohio; nephews, Juan (Janice) Guinn of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Benjamin Guinn; 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation 10:00am Funeral 11:00am Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
