Ida Jinks

Ida Louise Jinks was born December 3, 1924 to Philip and Irene (Dean) Robinson in Flomaton, Alabama. Ida lost her mother at age two. She and her brother Bruce were raised by their Aunt Willie Mae and Uncle Walker in Dothan, Alabama. Aunt Willie had no natural children but raised several children in the family throughout her life. Ida had stories about the hardships in Alabama but so many sweet memories of family life in Dothan. Life was hard at times in the south but Uncle Walker and Aunt Willie taught the value of salvation through Jesus Christ and the importance of family. During Ida’s youth the family moved from the south to West Virginia with the help of her father. There, her father worked in the coal mines trying to earn a living for the family. Ida’s memories of West Virginia were bleak. Eventually the family moved to Columbus, Ohio with the help of her Aunt Jenny who found work cooking and cleaning in private homes. Ida accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 17. She became acquainted with a dynamic female pastor, Lillian B. Steel who founded the World Peace Healing Temple. Ida was devoted to teaching about the gospel of Jesus. Her life was centered around Christ. She had a beautiful voice and was a member of the World Peace Tabernacle Choir. She also loved children and was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Ida met her husband and soul mate George, a Sargent in the Army, while he was stationed at Fort Hayes. He visited World Peace and fell in love with his “dream girl”. They married and their marriage lasted 56 years. They were graced with a daughter names Gail Marie.

God eventually led George and Ida to Holy Temple Church of God. They walked to church on some Sundays. They faithfully helped to maintain the church grounds. Ida in keeping with her love of children started the Victory Gospel Choir.

Ida loved God, her life with her immediate and church family. “Granny” as so many called her, loved Jesus and called on his name during her life and subsequent illness. All who came in contact with her knew she loved the Lord. Ida will be missed by many, especially her daughter Gail Marie (Jinks) Hubert, son (in law) Leonard James Hubert, grandson Jonathan David, granddaughter Jordyn Marie, sisters Maureen Robinson and Gloria (Robinson) Irby, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation 10am and Funeral 11am Friday, November 10, 2017 at Holy Temple Church of God, 1072 E. 14th Ave.
