Irvin Maurice Hedrick

Irvin “Irv” Maurice Hedrick was not just a loving son, but also a caring uncle, brother, cousin, godfather, and friend, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched. His untimely departure from this world on November 5, 2023, at the age of 62, left a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
Born on November 26, 1960, to Reverend Walter and Vera Hedrick, Irvin’s life was once characterized by simplicity and genuine connection. He completed his education at Linden McKinney High School, and upon graduation, he embarked on a journey through the workforce taking on various jobs to sustain his livelihood. His most recent employment was at Goodwill where he continued to demonstrate his strong work ethic.
But Irvin was not only dedicated to his professional life; he also devoted himself to faith. He served as a faithful usher at Jordan Bible Church, attending services diligently every Sunday. His unwavering commitment to his ministry was a testament to the values he held dear, and he had given his life to the Lord at a young age, a decision that shaped his character and actions throughout his life. In addition, he was baptized a Mt. Herman Baptist Church and at Good Faith Baptist Church.
Family was paramount in Irvin’s heart, and he cherished the moments spent with his family and loved ones. The Christmas holiday held a special place in his heart, and he reveled in the joy it brought to his family and friends. He had a passion for classic cars and the music of Elvis Presley, which he held dear. Irvin’s compassionate nature extended to helping others, as he went above and beyond by ensuring that everyone’s trash on Alvason Ave and Ratify Blvd was always placed on the curb in preparation for trash pick-up, a small yet meaningful act of kindness.
Irvin’s talents extended beyond his kindness; he learned how to play the guitar and used his beautiful voice to bless family members with melodious tunes. Additionally, he was a dedicated member of the bowling league, a testament to his commitment to both his hobbies and the social connections he cherished.
Irvin was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Walter N. Hedrick, grandparents, aunts, uncles,
godson, and is survived by his mother, Vera L. Hedrick; sisters, Phyllis “Ann” Hedrick, Theresa E. Hedrick, Toni C. Hedrick Woods; brother, Fredrick A. Hedrick; nieces, Anna M. Hairston, Christina L. Hairston, Elisaha J. Hairston; nephews, Zechariah J. Hairston, and Darien L. Shelton, goddaughters Stephanie and Felicity and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends mourn his loss, but carry his memory in their hearts.
The radiance of Irvin’s smile, which he generously shared with the world, will be dearly missed. Irvin Hedrick’s life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and kindness, and his memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
