Iva Leonette Trout was born the eldest of four children on January 29, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio to McHenry and Ellouise Justice Trout. Iva attended grade school at Urbancrest Elementary and graduated from Grove City High School. After graduation, she attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Iva also attended Ohio State School of Cosmetology to obtain her state licensure as a manicurist and nail technician.
Iva accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age at Union Baptist Church in Urbancrest, Ohio. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She has sung in the choir at Southfield Baptist Church and with the Union Grove Mass Choir.
Iva retired from the US Postal Service. In addition to working at the USPS, she spent many years driving a school bus. She drove for First Student, Columbus City and Groveport schools. In between those jobs, she also worked as a waitress, a courier, an Avon lady, a recreation worker and a nail tech. She utilized her experience and traveled down to Atlanta and worked at the 1996 Olympics in transportation.
Iva enjoyed her life. She was a reliable travel companion, a shopping buddy, an adventure seeker and lover of all things purple. She was the auntie who would let new drivers use her car, come outside and make TikTok videos, go ziplining in Las Vegas and ride all the roller coasters in the amusement park. She did all this while maintaining the perfect French manicure. Iva went home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2023.
She is preceded in death by her parents McHenry and Ellouise Trout.
She leaves to cherish her memory sisters, Irma Norita Curtis and Audrey Vanel Taylor; brother, Jonathan Maurice (ComerLynn) Trout; nieces, Kelli Curtis, Crystal Bangura and Talitha (Lance) Wimberly; nephews, Jacob (Terra) Curtis, Jerreau (Tiffani) Taylor and Christian (Melody) Taylor; great nieces and nephews, Chrischele, Jordan, Tarin, Kazmin, Sydnie, Kirbie, Curtis, Daniel, Zion, Jaela, ChristLynn, Elijah, Avery, Noelle, Julus, Robyn, Kylen, Gabriel and Naomi; aunts, Mildred Clark, Dorothy Moore and Shirley Howard; uncles, Irving Justice and Clennis Justice; and a host of cousins and friends.
