December 15, 1953 — August 28, 2024

Columbus

Jacquelyn Faye Colson was born December 15, 1953 in Columbus Ohio, and died August 28, 2024. Jackie worked at State Auto Insurance from February 1972 till January 2016. She married Gary W. Colson September 14, 1979. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1971.

Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her parents, James O. and Louise V. Johnson; brother-in-law, Michael Bankhead; and nephew, Marcus Bankhead.

She is survived by her sisters, Marian Bankhead, June (Steve) Harris and Michele Johnson; brother, James O. Johnson Jr.; niece, Ay'sa Carethers; nephew, Michael (Misty) Bankhead; "adopted" nephews, Kareem (CeCie) Caldwell and Richard Ian Johnson; and a host of cousins and friends. Special note to her longtime friends, Bernita Dawson, Terrie Spohn, Nelson McCants, Wilma Carethers Gilchrest, and Tina Straughter.

Jackie loved sports, especially her Ohio State Buckeyes football, and she was a long-time, ride or die Dallas Cowboys fan. She also loved attending the Blue Jackets hockey games. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and her many beloved Schnauzer dogs over the years. And as everyone who knew Jackie, she especially LOVED to TALK!!! She could talk your ears off for hours!! She was a caring, loyal, loving, giving sister and friend to many and always ready to help those in need.

When Jackie re-dedicated her life to Jehovah after many years, though not able to be at congregation meetings in person due to her health, she was faithfully attending all the meetings and commenting on Zoom and sharing her hope for the resurrection with others.

Jackie was seriously ill for many years and over the course of her countless hospital stays, earned the love and respect from all doctors, nurses, and aides who cared for her.
