A much-loved son, brother, and uncle, James Turner Anderson, age 75, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in his home on August 17, 2024, to receive his Heavenly Rest.
James was well known at “JT” as well as “Donnie” by family and friends. He was born on July 15, 1949, in McAlpin, West Virginia to Evelyn Jackson and James “June” Anderson. His mother, Evelyn, would later marry William Turner, Sr., the man who adopted James as his son and raised him in a house full of love. Their family eventually moved and settled in Columbus, Ohio, which they would call their forever home, as they expanded their family with the arrival of James’ younger siblings, William and Tina.
James graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1967 where he was a football player and was a member of the Linden McKinley Black Panthers. After a severe injury, he had to set his college football dreams aside and began a construction business. James was a general contractor in construction for over 40 years and worked on both residential and commercial projects. James loved to travel and visit other states, listen and collect music, and enjoyed sports. He was definitely a big Ohio State Buckeyes football fan. He also had a wonderful singing voice and sung at First A.M.E. Zion Church for a number of years. James was a devoted and loving son, the funny uncle, and protective big brother.
James was divorced and had no children, yet he lives to mourn his passing his beloved mother Evelyn Turner, his brother William T. Turner, Jr., his sister Tina L. Turner, his nephews Aaron Turner and Jordan Myers, his nieces Morgan Turner, Mistie Daniels (Myers), MacKenzie Turner, and Sydnie Turner, great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, ex-wife Gloria Zebbs, close friend Kelly Bowers, and other friends. James was preceded in death by his father, William T. Turner, Sr.
James will be remembered for his kind and compassionate nature, his love for his family, and charming smile. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
