Jerry Ronell Peaks, a beloved member of the Columbus community, peacefully passed away on August 21, 2023, at the age of 72. He was born on March 12, 1951, in Ingram Branch, WV, to proud parents who instilled in him strong values and a work ethic that would shape his life.
Jerry’s early years were marked by determination and a desire for knowledge. He graduated from Linden McKinley High School and furthered his education at Job Core. However, his path took a turn when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he served with honor and distinction from 1969 to 1973.
Following his military service, Jerry worked as a Franklin County Deputy Sherriff and pursued a career in carpentry, where he excelled as a skilled tradesman. As an independent contractor, his craftsmanship and attention to detail were renowned in the industry. He took immense pride in his work, leaving a lasting legacy through the beautiful structures and homes he helped create.
Jerry was a joyous and sociable individual, known for his infectious laughter and warm personality. He brought a sense of fun and happiness to those around him, making him a cherished friend and family member. His unwavering faith in Jesus Christ provided him with comfort and strength throughout his life.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his surviving relatives, including his sons Jeremiah N. Posey Sr. and Jason James, his sisters,Linda Peaks Rozelle, Joan (Raleigh) Stepter and Karen (Richard) Peaks Malone; his brothers, Andre (Doris) Peaks and Stephan (Jennifer) Peaks; granddaughter Jayla James; grandson Jeremiah Posey II. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, former spouses, and countless friends, all of whom were touched by his love and kindness.
On August 29, 2023, a visitation will take place at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am at the Apostolic Faith Temple. Inurnment will take place at Dayton National Cemetery.
As we mourn his passing, let us also remember the profound impact he made on our lives, the enduring love he shared, and the lasting memories that will forever reside in our hearts.
Rest in peace, Jerry Ronell Peaks. Your legacy will live on, and your spirit will continue to brighten the lives of all those who had the pleasure of knowing you.
