Jessica “Jess” Lee Mandeville

Jessica Lee Mandeville, age 35, was born on March 18, 1987, in Chillicothe, Ohio to Lee
Mandeville (Byrd) and Michael Mandeville. Jessica (Jess) was an only child and her
parent’s biggest blessing. She was known to be generous, loyal, family oriented, feisty,
and brutally honest. Although small in stature, she had a gigantic personality and was
loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jess was a graduate of Independence High School (2005) and was among the first
graduating class at Columbus Culinary Institute. Upon graduation, she completed a
one-year externship at Paris Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada. Jess was a chef at Willow Brook
Christian Community. As a teen, Jess was baptized at New Salem Missionary Baptist
Church, and in the Columbus Children’s choir. Every summer Jess looked forward to
attending Hamwi Diabetes camp.

Jess enjoyed horror films, boy bands, playing games and eating at new restaurants. Not
only was she a chef at her job, but she also enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She
loved to cook and eat Italian and was mastering the art of making homemade pasta.
Jess’s bright smile and contagious laughter was infectious and would shift the whole
atmosphere in a room.

In September 2012, Jess received a kidney and pancreas transplant. She was a
spokesperson for the Kidney Foundation and participated in several kidney walks. Due
to the gift of life she received, Jess was compelled to become an organ donor.
On Friday, September 23, 2022, Jess transitioned to be with the Lord. On Sunday,
September 25, 2022, at ST. Ann’s Mount Carmel Hospital, her liver was given to save
another life. Her lungs were donated to OSU for research and teaching purposes. Even
in rest, Jess was still giving.

Jess was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Jean Ann Byrd and her
cousin, Major Eric Stovall. She leaves to cherish her parents; paternal grandfather,
Lincoln T. Mandeville; grandmother, Linda J. Mandeville; Aunts, Maria Garner (Ray);
Erica Mandeville; Uncles, J.R. Byrd (Susan); Brian Byrd (Beth); Jason Mandeville (Nicole);
and Charles Napper; Godmother, Kirsten Hinton (Wendell); Godfather, Larry Balfour;
several Godchildren; a host of relatives and friends. Although Jessie did not have any
siblings, she had four “besties” Mekeia Adams, NaTera Toles, Brittany Sutton, and
Christina Williams.
