Jimmy Woodard

Elder Jimmy L “Woody” Woodard was born on October 30, 1935, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Willie and Willie Mae Moore Woodard.  On Monday, October 3, 2016 God called him home to be with the Lord.

He held several positions including school bus driver and working as a Fork Lift Driver for Buckeye Steele, before retiring as a Crane Operator

On September 28, 1991, Jimmy was united in marriage to Sandra A. Rudolph.

Elder Woodard was a former pastor and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church prior to joining Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, where he faithfully served for many years, providing transportation, singing in the Bishop’s Choir and with the Higher Ground Men of Praise.  He was a faithful member the Higher Ground Sunday School Department, the Higher Ground Food Pantry, the Higher Ground Ministerial Alliance, and served as Overseer of the Midweek Prayer Service. He ministered to and prayed with homebound seniors over the phone, and faithfully comforted families during time of bereavement,

Jimmy was preceded in death by both parents, one brother (Leon Woodard), two sons (Jimmy Lee Woodard, Jr. and Michael Jerome Woodard) and one daughter (Cynthia Ann Woodard).

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 25 years (Sandra); five daughters (Linda K. Woodard, Beverly Devereaux, Cathy Woodard Emerson, and C Renee Woodard of Delaware, and Mia (Darryl) Gee of Texas); four stepchildren (Phillip Rudolph, Howard (Yvette) Rudolph and Cara (Mark) Burston of Columbus, Ohio, and Carmon Rudolph of Arizona); two brothers (Jessie (Izella) Woodard and Leandrew Woodard of California);  four sisters  (Louise Little and Beatrice (Ray) Deloach of Texas, and Helen Hicks and Betty Harris of California); 28 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation 5:00pm and Funeral 6:00pm Sunday October 9, 2016 at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies 870 St. Clair Ave. Interment 10:00am Monday at Evergreen Burial Park.
