John Walter Garland entered into this world om July 30, 1943 and transitioned into eternity January 16, 2025. He was born to Boysie and Nona Garland in Chattanooga Tennessee. Mr. Garland was raised in Orchard Hill Ga. Until he later moved to Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Garland was preceded in death by his one son Michael Garland and Step son Kelvin Sr. , parents mr. and Mrs. Garland . His brothers, Larry Garland, Curtiss Garland , and Paul Garland, one sister lynee's Lindsey and one special niece Sabrena Lindsey.
Mr. Garland was a charter member of Faith United Methodist Church of Griffin Ga. He served in United States Army. He was a man of many gifts and talents who was always available to lend a helping. He was skilled at being a painter, mechanic, maintenance, cooking and also a very good singer. Mr. Garland was a man who always put others first especially his family. He was a jokester always making others laugh. During good and bad times.
He leaves to cherish his memory his Wife Gladys Garland of Columbus, Ohio. His son Victor Garland of Lawton, Ok, daughter Ryan Garland of Milledgeville, GA. three step Daughters,Durene Jester, Regina Ponder and Marcia Zellars , twelve grandchildren Jaydia Wiles, Victor Garland Jr. , Christopher Garland, Genesis Garland ,Devyn Hinds , Dominique Ponder, Marcus Ponder, Dy'Isha Ponder, Britney Battle, Kiez Zellous, Debra Ponder and Kevin Ponder Jr. One Brother Richard Garder (Francis) of Sawane , GA.Two sisters in -law Roslind Garland of Suffolk, VA , Alethea Garland of Chesapeake, VA. A host of great grand children, neices and nephews, also special cousins Derrick and Cristal Woods. One special friend Charles Caldwell. Lastly a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and his favorite "Caregiver" Megan.
