John T. Rumph, Sr.

John Thomas “Rumph” Sr. was born on January 8, 1928 in Marshallville, Georgia to Frank and Hattie Rumph. To this union 13 children were born. Rumph accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He relocated to Ohio and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio for many years. He worked at Local Union 423 for about 15 years and shortly after he worked as a self-employed construction worker and contractor. He was an entrepreneur and could fix just about anything he put his mind to. Rumph loved to hunt, travel, attend church and he was a 32^nd degree Mason.

Rumph is preceded in death by former wife, Clara Sue Rumph; parents, Frank And Hattie Rumph; brothers, J.B., Hezzie C, Willie Frank, and James Rumph; sisters Hattie Mitchell, Ida Mae Davis, Florence Smith, Thelma Davis, and Martha Rumph; and son, Cleo H. Rumph Sr.

Rumph leaves to cherish his memory, son John T. (Rosalind) Rumph Jr.; sister, Annie Lee Ross; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; good friend Joe day, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation 10am and Funeral 11am Wednesday May 11, 2016 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE 2500 Cleveland Ave.  Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
