John Vinson

John Vinson also known as “Johnny” went home to rest with the Lord on Tuesday July 12^th,2016 at the wonderful age of 89 years. He was born to John Henry Sr. and Susie English Vinson in Columbus, Ohio on February 19, 1927.

John was a devoted and loving father to his children, stepchildren, and grandchildren. John was a man with many names, father, son, uncle brother and cousin, no matter what you called him, you could expect him to respond in kindness.

John worked in construction for 37 years. He was a hard worker but enjoyed his retirement years. He kept himself busy with his buddies from the van club of which he was a member for many years.

Illness caused john to lose his eyesight many years ago, but this did not take away John’s spunk. He maintained his independence by learning new ways to navigate the world. He continued to cook his own meals and maintained a happy and fulfilled life style.

Mr. John Vinson is preceded in death by his parents John Henry and Susie English Vinson, wife, Princella Phipps Gwinn, brothers; Henry Vinson, Wes Vinson, sisters; Marcella Vinson, Lorraine Wade, Georgeann Vinson, sister at youth, grandsons; Jamier Vinson, Tony Hughes. Survived by his children John Vinson III (Danielle Marsh), Maurice Vinson Sr. (Delana Watkins), step children Lisa Hammond, Michael Phipps, Melissa Phipps, Chiquita Anders, Rosalind Phipps, Grandchildren Amber Bryany, Pierre Hannon, Michael Hughes, Iziauh Hannon, Seanquise Phipps, Shaquille Phipps, Johnny Patterson, Dalia Vinson, Maurice Vinson Jr, Ma’rijah Vinson, Jaszmin Anders, Trey Anders, Sari’ya Watson, Alexis Sharp, Amira Bentbi, great grandchildren; Shiah Phipps, Nevaeh Phipps, Major Hannon, Brothers; Relee Vinson, Eugene Vinson, Sister; Loretta Vinson, nephews; Larry Vinson, Bobby Vinson, Craig Vinson, Niece’s; Sharon Vinson, Pattie Vinson, Jamie Carter Perkins, Jaime Vinson and a host of other close relatives and friends.
