Johnnie Mae Mackey

Johnnie Mae Mackey, age 75, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 4:28 p.m.. Loving son, Keith was by her bedside along with other family members. Johnnie Mae is preceded in death by parents John McCoy and Eva Mae (Brown) McCoy; sister, Rosalind Marie Graves; and cherished partner of many years, Phillip Lewis Patrick.

Johnnie Mae attended Columbus Public Schools and The Ohio State University. She furthered her education with studies to become a mortician.

She was full of life, very adventurous, spontaneous, stubbornly determined and extremely strong willed. A person who never under any circumstances met a stranger. She was very outspoken and didn’t mind telling you how it was, is, and going to be. To know her was to not necessarily like her but you did respect her. Believe it or not she didn’t care who liked her.

Johnnie Mae leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Keith (Michelle) of Columbus, OH, Kevin (Sabrina) of Phoenix, AZ, and DeJuan (Shekina) of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Johnette (Allen) of Columbus OH; brother, Ralph Morgan of New York, NY; sisters, Regina Sherman of Detroit, MI, and Ramora Milner (Roy) of Columbus, OH; nineteen (19) grandchildren; seventeen (17) great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; special friend, Bernestine Dunlap; other relatives and friends.
