Johnny Tyrone Hairston was born December 2, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, to Margaret L. Hairston. Saturday, October 7, 2017, he took his final flight and entered into the gates of heaven.
Johnny accepted Christ at a young age and was a former member of Greater Liberty Temple COGIC. He loved to sing. His desire for music was passed down to him from his mother and uncles, who traveled and sang professionally. He was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School class of “76. Making him a proud “Panther-4-Life”. Johnny was a master mechanic. He was a Commissioner for the South Linden Area Commission. He was currently employed by IMPACT, Inc., of Columbus, Ohio
Johnny was truly a loving Son, Father, Grand-father, Uncle, and Best Friend. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Margaret. Brother, DeWayne Hairston, Sr. Maternal grandmother, Janie Orr James. Aunts: Jerri Torrence, Elizabeth Wilborn, Patricia Davey, and Della Bryant. Uncles: John Rash, William (Uncle Bill) Rash, Monroe James, and Lenzie Hansford.
Survived by Daughters: Sherrice Hairston (Phoenix, AZ) and Skylar Williams-Hairston (mother: Kim Williams, Columbus, OH). Grand-son: Ameer Osama. Sisters: Susie Watkins (Detroit, MI) and Shirley (Arthur) Williams (Columbus, OH). Brothers: Charles Hairston, Jr. (Columbus, OH).
Aunts: Estell Rash (Columbus, OH) and Berma (Jean) Rash (Columbus, OH). Special Cousins: Yvette Winston, Yvonne Wheeler of Columbus, OH and Delores (Richard) Richardson (Gary WV). George Rash (Gary, IN).
Special Children: Antonio Malone, Tomunisha Malone, Kourtney Malone, and Dujuan Williams all of Columbus, OH. Eight special grandchildren.
Nieces: Denise Watkins (Detroit, MI), Britney Williams, Sherell Hairston, Waynesha Hairston, Sandra Hairston, Shaunita (Raheem) Bonds-Farmer, Ateshia (Dajuan) Jefferson-Fuqua, Tierra Hairston, all of Columbus, OH.
Nephews: Norman (Lisa) Watkins, Jr., Daniel (Mildred) Watkins, and Maurice Watkins all of Detroit, MI. Demetrius Hairston, Dewaye Hairston, Jr, Tevin Hairston, Chaz Hairston, and Charles (Charlie) Hairston all of Columbus, OH. Johnny is also survived by 20 great nieces/nephews and seven great-grand nieces/nephews
