On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, June Esther Peoples, 68, received her Heavenly Reward. June passed away peacefully in her Columbus home, surrounded by her family. June Esther was born January 13th, 1953, in Winston Salem, North Carolina, to Catherine Peoples Jackson- Nesmith and John “June” Coleman. June and her family journeyed to Columbus, OH when she was five years old, and that is where she has resided ever since.

June Esther graduated from Central High School, class of 1970. She went on to study Social Work at The Ohio State University. June Esther was involved in a plethora of clubs and organizations centered around the welfare of citizens in her community. June Esther was an active member of the Poor People’s Coalition, founded by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Throughout June’s lifetime, she has run and operated her own Daycare Center, opened a Catering Company, and in her later years served as a Home Health Aide. These careers capture the essence of June’s heart posture to love and serve those around her. June led the Greeters/Hospitality auxiliary at All nations Church, Columbus, OH where she was a faithful member for many years.

June Esther was a Mother to many, she would open her heart and her home to those in need. She leaves behind a legacy of what it means to love unconditionally and to give freely. June was a worshipper, lover of Christ, and Prayer Warrior. Generous in her love and Generous in her giving. June and her family loved to embark on new journeys, frequently traveling around the world. June’s family prides her on being a Fashionista, always having a hat and accessories to match her stylish suits.

June is preceded in death by her parents Catherine Nesmith and John “June” Coleman, sisters Katherine Jackson and Emma Wooden, and brother Theodore “Teddy” Peoples.

Left to honor her legacy are her children, Katrina Peoples and

Carla Peoples Johnson. Grandchildren, Trevon Mobley, Jaisean Johnson, Johnae Johnson, Jajuan Johnson, Justin Vance, and Ramzi Wilson. Children of love, Steven Gray, Jassen Gray, Leon Jackson, Jazzmine Jackson, and their children who affectionately called her “Maw Maw.” Sisters, Sherlyn Peoples, Charlotte Peoples, Charlene Peoples, Ernestine Peoples, Eleanor Jackson. Best friend, cousin, and shopping partner Angelique McCoy.

 

 

 

 

 

PUBLIC Visitation 12:00 PM PRIVATE Visitation 1:00 PM and PRIVATE Funeral Service 2:00 PM Thursday, October 28, 2021 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd).
