Junior Gilliam

Junior was born on November 6, 1930 in Sussex County Virginia to parents Wardell and Alma Gilliam. He passed this life on April 27, 2022 in Columbus, OH. After moving with family from Virginia, he spent his young adult years in Pennsylvania. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He was employed for many years in the New York City School District until his retirement.

Affectionately called “Bug” and “Uncle Bug” by his family, and “Junior” by his friends in New York City and the military. His favorite things to do in life were watching baseball, playing chess, working puzzles, and visiting family.

Preceding him in death were six siblings, (3 brothers and 3 sisters). He is survived by spouse and good friend. Ethel Harris, New York City and Columbus, OH; brother, Felix (Jean) Gilliam; sisters, Lucy Johnson, and Atla Carroll; and special and caring nieces, Saundra Glover, Columbus, Oh, and Robin Teague, New Jersey.

He was a quiet, gentle, and unassuming spirit and loved his family very much. Rest in peace dear loved one. You will be missed… The Family
