Katie J. Hughes

Katie “Billy Jean” Hughes was born July 19, 1948, in Ragland, Alabama to Josephine Butler and Ollis Daniels. Katie gained her wings January 13, 2023.

Katie was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend to all in her surroundings. She always had an open door and a meal for anyone that needed it.

She loved going to church and having cookouts with family and friends. She was funny, caring, trustworthy, and just an all-around good person.

Katie was preceded in death by her mother; Josephine Butler, father; Ollis Daniels, son; Calvin Hughes, Sr. and daughter; Katheryn Hughes.

Katie leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons; Jeffery Hughes and Michael Clark, bonus son; Reginald Taylor, daughter, CanZada Hughes; bonus daughters, Frances Dorsey and Kiwan Harris; sisters, Johnnie (Randy) Washington and Elizabeth (Tommy) Caldwell, brother; Ollis Daniels, granddaughters; Keionnaa Hughes, Kizzy Hughes, Devonna Workman, Kyasi Harris, and Kyra Clark, grandsons; Calvin Hughes Jr., Robert Dorsey III, and Kai’el Franklin, greatgrandchildren; Davie, Mannix, and Serenity, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation 1:00pm and Memorial Service 2:00pm Saturday, January 28, 2023 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
