Kawana Lynn Bonner-Toms

Kawana Lynn Bonner-Toms, age 49, of Strongsville, Ohio passed away after an extended illness on May 26, 2023.
Kawana was born on September 23, 1973 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Melanie Bonner and Wallace Caldwell. Prior to making Strongsville her home, Kawana lived with family in California as a child, yet, lived most of her life in Mansfield. She was a member of Mitchell Chapel A.M.E. and graduated from Lucas High School in 1991, attending Tiffin University afterward. After school, Kawana worked briefly at Thermo Disc, however, in 1995 she began working for General Motors where she remained for 28 years until her passing. In addition to GM, Kawana owned and operated Kawana’s Sweet Treats where she served others by bringing their creative thoughts to life with top tier designs incorporating fruits and other sweet treats.
Kawana had a beautiful soul, was loyal and dedicated her life to her daughter, husband, family and friends. She had a passion for anything fashion, being especially proud of her extensive shoe collection. She enjoyed great food, music of all kinds, watching reality television, gossiping with her daughter, was an avid reader and most importantly, loved spending time with people she cared about.
Kawana is survived by her husband Andre Toms Sr, daughter Nayana A. Myles (Donnie Walker), son Andre Toms Jr., all of Strongsville, OH, Stepfather Clifford E. “Smitty” Smith of California, siblings Melvin A. (Rachel) Corbin Jr., Stacy N. Corbin of Columbus, OH, Keith L. Corbin of Mansfield, OH, Malica Caldwell of Las Vegas, NV, great aunt Betty (Sonny) Henderson, of California, special cousins Brandon Payne of California, Sebastian Pryor, Deidre Black and Karen Mathews all of Columbus, OH, Special aunts Crystal Wright and Audrey Corbin of Mansfield, OH, friend Laurian Render of Cleveland, Oh, best friend Trish Fry of Columbus, OH and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Melanie Bonner, father Wallace Caldwell, adopted mother Cheryl Corbin, grandmothers Peggy Bonner and Edith Williams, Aunts Rosiland Howard and Crystal Bonner-Cox and cousin Charles “Pooper” Mathews.
Friends will be received on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 5p-8p at the home of her aunt, 904 Lexdale Ln, Mansfield, OH.
Service will be held at

Visitation: 10a-11a Monday June 5. 2023 followed the Home Going Service at 11am at Providence Baptist Church, 112 West Sixth St, Mansfield, OH. Interment at Mansfield Cemetery,
Repast immediately following at Kindred Kove, 1710 Lorkay Dr, Mansfield, OH
