Kay Ellen Mock DeBerry departed this life on Saturday, July 18, 2015. She was born in Huntington, West Virginia on July 23, 1960 to the late James and Eleanor Mock. Kay was the 9th child of 13 children!
She attended South High School and became a member of Columbus Bibleway Church with her family during the 70’s. Kay started her employment career at an early age having worked for Big Bear and several other companies. Nonetheless it was her love of children that led her to become a Home Health Aid for the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation Developmental Disability (MRDD) where she worked until her declining health. Kay had an extreme love for her family, siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, god children and cousins. However, she had a special bond and unique relationship with each of her siblings. She was extremely proud of her sons (Jeffrey and Antauwn) and delighted in holiday family celebrations. Kay often referred to as the life of the party enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and taking Selfies! She was known by all as one who kept it real and didn’t mind giving you her opinion on all things.
Left to cherish her memory, sons Jeffrey (April) Gibbs Jr., and Antwaun (Toni) Gibbs, sisters Jean Mock, and Andrea (Larry) Jones, brothers Joe Mock, Tarrell (Treesje) Mock, David (Yolanda) Mock and Jerome (Vangee) Mock, 5 grandchildren, special friend Tony Wilson, father of children Jeffrey Gibbs Sr., former spouse Craig Deberry and a host of other family and friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents Eleanor and James Mock Sr. Siblings James Mock Jr., Janet Gamble, Vanessa Jeter, Willie Mock, Don Mock and Awanna Mock.
Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday July 24, 2015 at Columbus Bible Way Church 2660 Rhoades Ave.
