Keon Chatman

Keon Eugene Chatman ,29, of Columbus Ohio departed from this earth on the morning of February 8^th 2018. Keon was born on a Tuesday November 29^th 1988 to Carma (Belcher) Mitchell and Connie “Eugene” Chatman. He was a 2008 graduate of South High School and Northwest Career Center and subsequently enlisted in the United States Army. Before starting basic training Keon married Candace Smith of Columbus, Ohio.

Keon was equipped with a ‘can do attitude’ and after serving his country he moved on to discover his place in this world. He set out to seize every opportune moment while seeking to live his ideal life with fervor.

Keon was a loving open-hearted son that never neglected family duties whether it was just a phone call/text or hanging out. He had an infectious smile that would send warm rays through a room and no matter the situation he was persistent is moving forward in his life.

Keon prided himself on being a strong and engaged fulltime father to his children. Spending time playing, laughing ,and creating fond memories wasn’t a duty to him but a honored privilege. The essence of being a loving father illuminated his being in a majestic way. His demeanor and light- hearted attitude will be felt through his children for years to come.

He is preceded in death by paternal grandfather Charles Dukes Sr., maternal great-grandparents Vivian and Robert Belcher and great-grandmother Neva Chatman.

He is survived by his wife ,Candace Smith-Chatman; daughter, Serenity Chatman, Tacoma, Washington; daughter, Miyleea Chatman, Columbus, Ohio; his step-daughter, Tashionna Dishmon, Columbus, Ohio; 3 brothers, LaKee Chatman, Columbus, Ohio, Kam’Ron Belcher, University Heights, Ohio, Tyree Green(Dashanna) of Columbus, Ohio , 2 sisters Keonna Smith, Columbus, Ohio; Tanae Manago North Carolina; his mother Carma Mitchell and step-father Douglas Mitchell of University Heights, Ohio; his father Connie Eugene Chatman of Columbus, Ohio, 2 uncles Christopher(Danielle) Belcher of Chicago, IL, Charles Dukes Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, 4 aunts Teresa Dukes, Dorothy Ann Dukes, Jannifer Dukes and Stephanie Dukes all residing in Columbus, Ohio, maternal grandmother Karen Belcher and grandfather Samuel Guice of Columbus, Ohio and paternal grandmother Dorothy Nell Dukes and a host of extended family and friends including special friend Le’Terika McNair.
