Larry Jermone Copeland

Deacon Larry J. Copeland was born on March 20, 1953, in Columbus Ohio, and entered eternal rest on April 29, 2021. Larry became a faithful and loyal member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in June 2004. He trusted and kept his faith in God and became a Deacon in the church on September 25, 2011. He loved serving as a deacon and was a member of the Senior Choir which he loved dearly. He took the honor in singing praises to the Lord and he loved his Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Family.

Larry attended Eastwood Elementary, Champion Jr High and graduated from Columbus East High School. He attended Bowling Green University where he graduated with honors with a degree of Bachelor of Arts and Science.

Larry loved his children, grandchildren, and all of his family. On holidays he loved to cook out and have all of his family and friends over to eat. He loved sports, and his favorite teams were ‘The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and the MLB Baseball playoffs. There’s nothing like sitting with Larry watching sports. Larry loved to sing and anyone who knew him knew they could expect to hear him sing a variety of songs from his infamous music collection.

He is preceded in death by his father Raymond Phillips, Stepfather Cloyd Brown, son Raymond Copeland, Sister Carol Childs, Brother Michael Brown, Grand Parents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving Mother and Caregiver Evelyn M. Brown; Siblings Wanda Childs (Caregiver), Michael Childs (Caregiver), Rodney (Tara) Childs, Sherry Lynn Brown, Levon Brown and Sulyman (Tamra) Brown; Children Larry Copeland Jr., Ashley (Desmond) Dowdell, Michael (Andrea) Copeland and a special nephew Quentin Childs who he helped raise; Grandchildren Kiarah, Peyton, Ziar, Tehillah, Zion, Lynnea, Domani, Malaysia, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private Visitation 10:00 AM and Private Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, May 14, 2021 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church 1535 Dewey Ave 43219. Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.
