Lennie Smallwood

June 19, 1950 — October 20, 2024

Lennie June Smallwood was born on June 19, 1950, along with his twin sister, Linda, in Bellaire, OH, to the late Thomas Smallwood and the late Marguerite “Motdear” L. (Cole) Smallwood Culbreath. Grandmother Mary Jane Brantley helped raise Lennie and siblings. Lennie departed this life peacefully on Sunday afternoon October 20, 2024. Lennie was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, Pastor Glenn Perdue Sr., Pastor Mary Alice Gregory, Ronnie Smallwood, Charles Crayton, Jeryl Smallwood Sr., brother-in-law John Gregory, and sister-in-law Georgianna “Sissy” Smallwood.

Lennie accepted Christ at an early age and was a lover of the Word of God. He was a 1969 graduate of Steubenville Big Red High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After receiving his Honorable Discharge, he moved to Columbus, OH, where he worked for several companies. He worked for the State of Ohio for 26 years of service. Fondly referred to as Mr. Fix-It, Lennie could repair or build just about anything. He constantly made himself available to help others. His hobbies included photography, counseling, creative writing, and drawing.

Left to cherish Lennie's memory are brothers Frederick “Sonny” Perdue (Mary) of Altadena, CA, Harry Smallwood (Debra) of Gahanna, OH, sisters Linda Smallwood of Atlanta, GA, Paula Smallwood of Columbus, OH, sister-in-law Maxine Perdue of Steubenville, OH, and a vast host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished friends.
