 Leslie Malik Rayshawn Lacking January 30, 1997 – December 29, 2024

Leslie Malik Rayshawn Lacking, lovingly known as Malik, was born on January 30, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio, to Beverly McClendon and Leslie Lacking. On December 29, 2024, Malik passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, leaving behind cherished memories and countless lives touched by his vibrant presence.

Malik was a joyful, charismatic, and loving soul whose infectious smile brightened every room he entered. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and Godfather who deeply loved his family and lived life to the fullest. Known for his free spirit and lively personality, Malik was the life of every party.

Malik graduated from South Charleston High School in South Charleston, West Virginia. He went on to earn his associate degree in HVAC from Columbus State and proudly served as a Maintenance Supervisor for 5812 Investment Group for four years.

A trendsetter in every sense, Malik was always impeccably dressed and full of style. He loved to travel, enjoyed great food, and spending time with his family. Malik was also passionate about grilling, music, and entertaining. He DJ’d all the family gatherings and was a regular at karaoke nights at Waves Bar and Grill, where his energetic performances earned him a loyal fan base.

Malik’s love extended to his beloved dog, Blanca, who was a constant companion.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred Lee Reese, Geraldine (Prentiss) Gillard, and Archie McClain Jr., and cousins, Sage Martin and Lante’ Hughes.

Malik is survived by his loving parents, Beverly McClendon and Leslie Lacking; grandmother, Ema Jean Reese; siblings, LaTasha (Rapheal) Washington, Tanea Dixon, Teaira Pannell, Shawn Michael Price, Larenz, and Lejuan Lacking, and Harold Pannell Jr.; nephews, Justin (Grace) Phillips, Trae Nellon, and King Washington; nieces, Kennadi McCall, Na’Caiyah Spencer, and Za’Layah Eggerson; great-niece, Myla Phillips; aunts, Rutha, Della, Linda, Tonya, Vicki, and Celesta; uncles, Shawnton (Denia), Nelson and Ivan, Carey, Godson Cain Malik Price; Godmother, Karen Oden; Godfather, Maurice Wade; and a host of special cousins, aunties, friends, and extended family members.

Malik will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for his warmth, charisma, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
