Lillian Mccoy

Lillian McCoy made her transition to glory, peacefully on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Lillian was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 18, 1929, to Andrew and Ruth Pearson who preceded her in death.

Lillian grew up in the historic “Flytown” section of Columbus and attended Columbus Public Schools. On August 6, 1946, she married the love of her life, Nathaniel “Bud” McCoy who preceded her in death. They would have celebrated their 75th Anniversary this year.

Lillian was employed in the culinary profession over the years, however, ultimately retired from General Motors after 31 years of service.

Lillian was a faithful charter member of Kingdom Power Baptist Church, where she was often called upon to share her amazing “mac and cheese” which she enjoyed doing.  She loved the Lord and hearing Rev Respress preach God’s word. She was known for “helping him” as she would respond right along with him reciting the scriptures as he preached.

Lillian was affectionately known to her family as “Aunt Leean”, that’s how we all pronounced her name. She loved all her nieces and nephews as her own and rejoiced in seeing them grow up and make positive accomplishments in their lives. She loved cooking for her family and being part of family celebrations. We all remember going to Aunt Leean and Uncle Bud’s the day after Christmas which was our family tradition. They not only had gifts, but they always had great food, lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs or homemade pizza and all sorts of deserts which Uncle Bud took great pleasure in preparing and sharing.

Lillian leaves to cherish her memory her brother Nathaniel Pearson; nieces Kim Robinson; Louise, Rita and Earlene Phillips; nephews Vincent (Shirley) Phillips, Paul Jackson, David Jackson and a host of great nieces and great nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
