Linda Simpson Williams
It is with great sadness that our family is mourning the departure of our beloved mother and wife, Linda Simpson Williams. We were inspired by her unwavering courage and strength as she faced life's greatest challenge with grace, ultimately answering God's call to come home on March 17th, 2025. Linda lived with purpose, always putting family, friends, and community at the heart of everything she did; she gave generously, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on those who knew her. Linda made you laugh with her wit, amazed you with her resilience, and warmed your heart with her radiant smile and boundless empathy.
A native of Newark, New Jersey, Linda graduated from West Side High School in 1967, she then matriculated at Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, OH where she received her bachelor's degree in education in 1971, and met the love of her life, Anthony Williams from Youngstown, OH. Upon graduation, Linda worked for the Lansing, MI school district and then settled in the Columbus City School District as a teacher and facilitator where she enhanced the teaching staff in advancing their business, accounting and computer skills for 25+ years until her retirement in 2015. Linda's positivity, wisdom and dedication to education touched the lives of many students, colleagues and friends, leaving an unwavering legacy.
In 1976, Linda married her college sweetheart, Anthony Williams, a medical student at The Ohio State University. Together, they built a life filled with love, resilience, and teamwork, and raised three children, Candyce, Aerik and Lindsey. Linda's devotion as a wife, mother and life partner was the foundation of her family's success.
Linda was deeply engaged in organizations that combined social connection with a strong commitment to service and philanthropy; she was a proud and devoted member of the Columbus Chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., CARATS, Inc., and The Sophisticates, Inc. Additionally, Linda was previously active with The Links, Inc, Twin Rivers Chapter and cherished her long-standing fellowship with the Birthday Club. Through these affiliations, Linda cultivated lifelong friendships, uplifted her community, and embodied the spirit of sisterhood, service, and grace.
Linda is reunited with her parents, Grover C. and Willa Mae Troutman, siblings, Marjorie Gibbons, Elizabeth Pryor, Richard Simpson, Randolph Troutman and Stephen Troutman. Linda leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, her husband, Dr. Anthony Williams with 49 ½ years of marriage, daughter, Candyce Williams, Columbus, OH, sons, Dr. Aerik Williams (Lindsey Nicole) Charlotte, NC and Dr. Lindsey Williams (Komal) Plain City, OH, grandchildren, Maxwell, Sahil and Kiran, siblings, Sandra Wilson, Aurora, OH, Bonnay Johnson, Wilkes-Barre, PA, Earl Simpson, (Wanda) Wake Forest, NC. Linda's legacy will continue through two generations of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored.
The Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, support a cause close to her heart and make a tribute donation to the Hardy Center, www.thehardycenter.org
