Lorraine Russell

Lorraine Russell was born on June 5, 1925 in the small town Chatham in Pittsylvania County, Virginia to Frank Walker and Rebecca Smith Walker. On Sunday, April 1, 2018 Lorraine slipped away to be with God. Lorraine was 1 of 14 children.

Lorraine got married January 22, 1960 to the late Roscoe Russell. For most of her life, Lorraine was a homemaker. She would often devote time to visiting elderly shut ins, and doing house cleaning to assist them when she could. She devoted her life to God and she influenced others with her kindness, and who she was naturally. Lorraine never had a harsh word to say, and if there was anyone who you could rely on, it was her! The time of day did not have any bearing on her, the distance she had to travel to reach you meant nothing. She would walk from 26th Avenue to Pointdexter Village and back for you. In some way every person Lorraine came across she affected, in a way we will ever forget, which means she will live on inside of us.

Lorraine did not waiver in her faith. She was content to trust in God knowing he would supply her every need in accordance with his riches in glory.

Lorraine leaves to cherish her memory with children Nina (Michael) Hughes, Don Russell, Patricia (Malcom) Landry, Edward Harold Hunt, Barbara Hunt, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 12:30pm and Funeral 1:30pm Friday, April 6, 2018 at New Covenant Believers, 3400 Kohr Blvd.
