Mable Sias

Mable June Sias was born Monday, June 1, 1925 in McNab, Arkansas, to the late Blanche William Nelson and I. V. Nelson. She surrendered peacefully to God’s will and transitioned on Friday, October 1, 2021 to rest in His arms of eternal life with her daughter Blanche by her side. Family that greeted her with open arms are parents; husbands, Leroy Hill and Odell Sias; son, Leroy, Jr.; sister, Ernestine Washington-Bruce; granddaughter, Kimberly Guest-Cuevas; and grandson, Gregory D. Guest, Jr.

Mable and her sister, Ernestine, grew up on the south side of Chicago. The two loved crafts, ceramics, and making dolls and doll clothes. Mable also enjoyed doing various types of painting such as by the number, water, pencil, etc. Her primary education was in the Chicago School System, and she attended Phillips High School. She met and married Leroy Hill, and they had three children, Christine, Leroy, Jr., and Blanche.

After several moments of tragedy in her life, which included death of her husband, Leroy, her mother and son, Mable pressed on, in spite of, and worked in some of the clothing factories and eventually began working in the cafeterias of the Chicago School System. She retired after many years of service. It was during those years she met and married Odell Sias. She enjoyed traveling, especially the trips to visit family in Ohio.

Mable attended West Point Baptist in Chicago, IL.  After moving to Gahanna, OH in 2012 to live with her daughter, Blanche, she attended Vineyard-Columbus Church.

Fond memories of her life on earth will be cherished by her daughters: Christine J. Hill-Aybar, of Miami, FL and Blanche Guest of Gahanna, OH; grandchildren: Ronald Boatman of Tampa, FL, Hollie Guest-Torba of Denver, CO, Gail Guest of Gahanna, Kristen (Neil) Carter of Parkland, FL; grandson-in-law, Jacob Cuevas of Columbus, OH;  great-grandchildren: Ronaldo A.
