Mae Frances Logan, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2024.
A proud graduate of East High School, class of 1962, Mae touched countless lives with her kind heart, gentle nature, and unwavering devotion to her family. She retired from Lucent Technologies (formerly Western Electric) after an impressive 33-and-a-half years of service.
Mae was predeceased by her mother, Sadie (Russell) Houston; daughter, Mia Logan; sister, Malinda (Shadie) Taylor; brothers, Nathaniel and Julius Russell; and her father, Ivory Russell.
She leaves behind her cherished granddaughters, Latasha Logan, Claudia Butler, and Makyla Logan; her brother, Mitchell Russell; her sisters, Emma (Edward) Stigger and Eileen Russell; along with a host of beloved relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory dear.
Mae’s life was filled with love for the simple joys, which was expressed in her love for playing the lottery, working in her yard, and watching her favorite soap operas, affectionately known as "The Stories." In her earlier years, Mae was a talented athlete who played basketball at Beatty Recreation Center and East High School. She also enjoyed roller skating at the infamous ‘Rollerland’ skating rink.
Music always held a special place in her heart, and the soulful sounds of Frankie Beverly and Maze were a favorite, providing the backdrop to many of her days. And when it came to sweets, her fondness for all things lemon was legendary—from baking Lemon Streusel Swirl cakes in her younger years to savoring a slice of lemon meringue pie in her later ones.
Mae Frances Logan’s gentle spirit, her love of family, and the kindness she shared with the world will forever live in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Though her physical presence is gone, her love will continue to shine brightly, lighting our way and reminding us of the beauty she brought to this world.
