Marion Eric “Ricky” Anderson

Marion Eric “Ricky” Anderson went peacefully to his eternal home on February 13, 2024, at the age of 59. Ricky was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Eastmoor High School in 1983, demonstrating his commitment to education and personal growth. He confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Elizer Church of Christ. On September 18, 1989, he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country with dedication and honor. He attained the rank of Airman Recruit (AR) proving his loyalty to his fellow service members. He received the National Defense Service Ribbon and Southwest Service Medal with Bronze Star. He also worked for Lane, Million Air and Landmark Aviation as a Service Technician, fueling planes.

Ricky discovered a love for music at a young age and pursued his dreams. He became a respected musician in the local community. Ricky was an excellent drummer. It was his passion. He enjoyed teaching youth to play drums at the Masonic Temple. He also wrote heartfelt songs with lyrics that resonated with his audiences.

Ricky is preceded in death by his mother, Alene; beloved wife, Betty Merritt Anderson; grandparents, Marion and Louise Binns Anderson.

Ricky leaves to cherish his memory, aunts, Hannah Anderson, Catherine Anderson, and Sharon Anderson Scott; devoted cousins, Marcus Muhammad, Douglas Hannah; special cousins, Leslie J. Hannah, Dr. Tony Anderson (Angelett), Michael Milton, Akin Hannah and Aries Hollingshead and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Thursday, February 29, 2024 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave. (one block east of Noe Bixby, turn North on Lonsdale Rd.). Interment at Dayton National Cemetery.
