Mark Damond Evans

Mark Damond Evans was born February 10, 1974 in Columbus, Ohio to Janet Evans and Craig Barkley. He attended Columbus City schools and enjoyed playing sports even making the baseball team his freshman year of High School. Although difficult to understand at times, he was a charming young man with a unique sense of humor and a bright smile that could change your entire mood.

Mark attended Whetsone High School and eventually earned his GED. He was gifted with his hands and a skilled plumber. He loved the holidays and good food. He fathered two children, Marquel and Devan, who he loved dearly along with his two grandchildren Jaasiel and Leo. He was uniquely Mark and did not hold back his words if he had an opinion about something.

Mark frequently gave his time and efforts to help friends, family, and even strangers with various projects, often not charging full price to people who could not afford to pay. He displayed this unselfishness even at times when he was not in the best position to do so. He also made many friends whom he remained loyal to over the years. If you were a friend to him, you remained a friend for life.

Mark is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Robert and Ernestine Evans; paternal grandparents; Rosemary Braynon and Mack Barkley; uncle Clifton Evans and brother Tevin Barkley.

Mark is survived by parents Craig Barkley Sr. of Hopemills, North Carolina and Janet Walton of Columbus, Ohio; children Marquel Anthony and Devan Grant of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Jaasiel Anthony Weaver and Leo Grant of Columbus, Ohio; siblings Gavin Evans (Delores) of Columbus, Ohio, Craig Barkley Jr., Neill Barkley (Carmen), Timothy Barkley, and Tiffany Barkley of South Florida; aunts Ethelda Evans and Tonya Evans of Columbus, Ohio; uncles Kevin Evans, Eric Evans (Mildred), and Quan Evans (Jean) of Columbus, Ohio and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mark is truly loved and will be deeply missed. Lovingly submitted by The family
