Martin Brady

October 7, 1963 — March 2, 2025

Columbus

Martin Perry Brady, 62 of Columbus Ohio, transitioned from this life on March 2, 2025. Martin was born in Martin's Ferry, Ohio, on October 7, 1963. Martin began his long career in the culinary arts as a teenager. His love and talent for cooking lead him to many different positions in his chosen field. Martin was an excellent teacher who freely shared his knowledge and love of cooking with others. He transitioned to the management side restaurant life, but he never lost his passion for the creativity that comes from cooking, plating, and serving a meal cooked by him. On July 11, 1986, Martin married his kitchen and life partner, Shelia Smith. The two of them planted, watered, and cultivated three seeds that blossomed into their children.

Martin is preceded in death by his grandparents James and Emma Brady, his uncle William Brady, his aunt Jean Brady and his brother William Hager.

Left to carry on his legacy of love are his mother Helen V. Hager, his forever love Shelia Brady, his children Donta (Nora) Smith, Kachera Brady, and Maurice Brady, his siblings; Janie Hager, Ronald Hager, Teresa Hamilton, and Melba Moton; His much loved grandchildren, Damon Shoffner, Breanna Horton, Angelaya Foster, Lesauna Phillips, Lloyd Phillips III, Ny'vaeh Phillips Rowe, Zanyah Rowe, Diarene Cozart, Aaliyah Cozart and Helena Howard, and His Aunts; Martha Edwards and Linda Pannell as well as a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In the limited time that God allowed us to have with Martin, through the way he lived his life, he taught us determination, generosity, acceptance, humor and above all, love.
