Mary E. Jackson

Mary Jackson was born May 21, 1945. She went home to be with her Lord and King February 7, 2020. Mary was the daughter of Henry W. Jackson and Elizabeth M. Jackson. She was the third of four siblings; Henry Jr. (Violet) Jackson, Harry (Vera) Jackson, and Viola (Lawrence) Price.

Mary worked for Franklin County Sheriff’s Department where she dedicated 25 years of service. Most of her time was devoted raising her three children, and as Mary would say, “That was three of my greatest accomplishments”. Her vacations were staycations, this is what she simply enjoyed, Mary really loved being with friends and family.

As we all know, Mary was known to be a great cook, and her traditions were handed down to the generations. Mary always put love in her amazing recipes of soul food cuisines. Her homemade dressing, amazing candy yams, famous mac and cheese, the greens that would melt in your mouth and mouth watering fried chicken just to name a few!

Mary was very outspoken, and we all knew when she spoke, do not expect the filter to be applied to her truth. Everyone knew Mary had a sharp tongue and a spunky personality to match. Mary was our mother when we needed that talk, a grandmother when we needed a hug, and a friend when we needed someone faithful in our lives. She was loved by all and she loved those around her, especially family.

She will be greatly missed by all of us, but one thing we know today, Mary has been reunited with her sister (Viola) and brother Harry), daughter (JoAnne), grandson (Stacey) and nephews (Anthony and Thurman). What a beautiful reunion this will be! Rest in Heaven Mary.

She will be remembered as a wonderful and devoted mother to three children; JoAnne Jackson, Kelley (Darryl) Berry and Ahmad Jackson. She was also a Grandmother to Nikkia (Brian) Jones, Shamyia, Brandon, Princess, Ahm’areia, Ahmorah, Na’maria, and Ah’mere Jackson, Toi and Jason Burley all of whom would call her “Gram”. She was also known as “GiGi” to Breyaun, Nikayla, Brian, Christina Jones, Asia, Markis, Shyanne, Kah-Lani Jackson, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
