Mary Jo Norwood, 70, of Columbus died Monday, July 22. 2019 in bed at her home. She was born June 15, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio, to Emma M Roberts and Theofotr Meadows. In 1958, Emma married Clarence Norwood, who adopted Mary Jo and her younger sister Anna Norwood, of Columbus, Ohio.

Mary Jo was a lifelong resident of Southfield Community where she lived since 1990 to be closer to her mother and sister. She graduated from Columbus East High School in 1968. Later in life she took several accounting and business classes at Columbus State Community College to future her career, which resulted in several job promotion.

Mary Jo was a retired Tac Agent with the State of Ohio, Department of Taxation where she worked for 35 and half years. Mary Jo worked her last five years in the same building as her son before retiring in 2012. Mary Jo loved life and enjoyed playing games of chance and meeting family and friends for dinner. At any given day you could find her at one of her favorite internet cafe or having dinner with her son and friends at MCL Cafeteria.

Preceded in death, her grandparents Joseph C. and Mary E. Roberts along with stepsister Linda Meadows, her great uncle Edward Battle, biological father and one grandson, Theodore Meadows and Malik A. Norwood. And host of uncles, friends, and family.

Also, surviving are her mother and father, Emma M. and Clarence Norwood, her son, Anthony Wayne Norwood of Columbus; one granddaughter Ayana A. Arrington; one grandson Kaeden Anthony Norwood of Weirton, W.V.; one sister Anna Norwood, and Mary Hargrow (very close and dear friend to the family) of Columbus: three nieces, Michelle and Makeia Norwood and Neta Boyce; four great nephews. Tyler, Tyron, Armani. Greg, and Jordan Norwood; one great niece, Areanna Norwood; one great aunt, Elouise Battle. Also, three half sisters Patricia Stoumile, Lynn Westbrooke, Carol Meadows-all of Columbus, Ohio.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST 5456 E. Livingston Ave.
